Shadow Sessions - 3, 5, or 7 day
Join Derek for an Intensive Workshop and Shadow Session!
Join Derek for a 3, 5, or 7-day intensive workshop and shadow session where you'll learn the ins and outs of owning and operating a private ceramic studio. Enhance your wheel throwing skills and expand your artistic perception of shape and form. You'll also learn how to load, unload, and fire kilns, mix glazes, and safely handle raw materials for glaze mixing. Each day, the studio is open to you from 10am to 8:30pm, though some days Derek may leave around 6pm.
We will kick off the session with glazing, loading, and firing a kiln. Please bring 10-15 pieces of your own bisque ware to fire. Each day includes a two-hour private lesson, with the rest of the day free for practice and creation on the wheel. Outside your lesson, Derek will be working in the studio, performing various tasks like throwing pots, loading kilns, cleaning, mixing glazes, handling social media, emails, website orders, photography, and other digital media tasks. If you're interested, Derek can guide you through these processes to help build your digital footprint.
