FAQs

Derek Redding - 2024

Class Tuition and Inclusions

Our 6-week class is priced at $300. This includes all clay, tools, and materials, so you'll never need to purchase additional clay. We never charge for bisque firing. There is an additional fee for glaze firing, starting at $10 for pieces up to 7” (tall or wide).

Class Duration and Schedule

Our 6-week class meets once a week for 2.5 hours. There is a week-long break between the 5th class and the final session, where we return to glaze our wares. This break allows time for the pots to dry and be bisque fired.

Please be patient after the glazing session, as it can take time to fire all the work. The kilns also require up to 40 hours to cool before we can unload the pieces.

Waitlist Information

We do not have a waitlist. Seats for our 6 week classes are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Current students are given priority for seats in upcoming classes, but once you're eligible to register, you're welcome to stay in the class for as long as you like!

I Have Little or No Experience. Is This Class Right for Me?

Absolutely! Our classes are designed for everyone, from complete beginners with no experience to skilled professionals. Whether you're just starting out or looking to refine your skills, Flux offers something for everyone.

Are Kids Welcome in the Studio to Learn How to Throw?

Yes! We welcome children of all ages to learn how to throw in our studio. However, children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian during classes or lessons. Please note that younger children may find it challenging to control the clay on the spinning wheel, which can move quickly and pose a risk of injury if not handled carefully. We recommend that children be at least ten years old and 4 feet tall for the best experience.

Open Studio Time and Memberships

Currently, we do not offer open studio time or studio memberships. As a small facility, our primary focus is on the artistic development and growth of our students. While we are not designed for production work, we ensure that you will have ample time to create a significant amount of work during your class. There are no limits on the quantity of work you can produce while enrolled.

Exciting News: We will be offering open studio time starting in September. Stay tuned for more details!
